How to Stop Terrorism

HOW TO STOP ISLAMIC TERRORISTS...... it worked once in our History...
Once in U.S. history an episode of Islamic terrorism was very quickly stopped. It happened in the Philippines about 1911, when Gen. John J. Pershing was in command of the garrison. There had been numerous Islamic terrorist attacks, so "Black Jack" told his boys to catch the perps and teach them a lesson.
Forced to dig their own graves, the terrorists were all tied to posts, execution style. The U.S. soldiers then brought in pigs and slaughtered them, rubbing their bullets in the blood and fat. Thus, the terrorists were terrorized; they saw that they would be contaminated with hogs' blood. This would mean that they could not enter Heaven, even if they died as terrorist martyrs.
All but one was shot, their bodies dumped into the grave, and the hog guts dumped atop the bodies. The lone survivor was allowed to escape back to the terrorist camp and tell his brethren what happened to the others. This brought a stop to terrorism in the Philippines for the next 50 years.
Pointing a gun into the face of Islamic terrorists won't make them flinch.
They welcome the chance to die for Allah. Like Gen. Pershing, we must show them that they won't get to Muslim heaven (which they believe has an endless supply of virgins) but instead will die with the hated pigs of the devil.

The Amero? You Gotta be Jokin'

The North American union. The United States of America will become the cream between the socialist, liberal, anti-gun Canada, and the economical dead, crime ridden, abuser of our laws Mexico, Oreo cookie. IN WHAT WORLD DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE!?! And to spread the icing on real smooth, the new currency will be the Amero. I kinda feel like Grover in the book, "There's a monster at the end of this book" where fuzzy little Grover goes into insane fits because we, the readers keep turning the pages and bringing him closer to the monster at the end. I know that's a kids book and not for real, but the similarities are scary when you consider the child-like minds of those in charge of this country, and the monsters they bring out with their ridiculous ideas. (for those of you who think I've lost it, and have no idea what book I'm talking about, have kids and it'll all come together for you)
I guess this is how the boneheads in the big domed building fix the illegal alien problem, make all the Mexicans American citizens, even if they still live in Mexico. Tear down all the fences, fire all the border control agents, Change the national language to Mexican... Wait a minute, that's a full surrender. We should see if that logic would work in sand land, "hey Osama, Al queda, Taliban, and Hezbollah, come on over, you are now Americans, you are welcome here, we'll change our dollar to the walla-walla or whatever you use, and we'll all speak camel." I hope no one in congress reads this, they might run with it.
Well, I guess its not the dumbest thing our government has done, well... wasn't there that time when... no, how about... O.K. maybe it is .

70 Million More Guns…38% Less Violent Crime

Data released by the FBI on Monday showed that in 2005, the nations total violent crime rate was 38% lower than in 1991, when violent crime hit an all-time high. Rates of the individual categories of violent crime were also much lower in 2005 than in 1991. Murder was 43% lower, rape 25% lower, robbery 48% lower, and aggravated assault 33% lower. The FBI’s report came on the heels of a Bureau of Justice Statistics crime survey that found that violent crime was lower in 2005 than anytime in the surveys 32-year history.
If you think I found this on the front page of the Washington Post, then let me be the first person to welcome you back from Mars. This should be overwelming evidence that guns are not the cause of crime, and that allowing citizens to own and carry firearms IS THE ONLY WAY to reduce crime. But just to prove the agena of the anti-gun clowns, they have focused on the 2% increase in violent crime from 2004-2005. Why is it that no level of proof will change the minds of the so called "open minded" liberals?
As usual, Washington, D.C., which leads the nation in anti-gun laws, led the nation in murder, with a rate six times higher than the rest of the country. Neighboring Maryland, where gun control advocates have been particularly active recently, once again had the highest robbery rate among the states, but also tied for the unenviable distinction of “first place” in murder among the states. However, despite Maryland’s high crime counts, CeaseFire Maryland, the local Brady Campaign cronnies that recently released a paper demanding an “assault weapon” ban, was unable to point to any crimes in the state involving such a gun. And that to would be a good reason to find another cause. But no, my home state of maryland will continue to cause more crime with "strong" gun control laws.
I always thought that thinking people found what works, and does it. I guess if what you are is a liberal, you continue to do what's wrong, and just try to keep us sheeple to stupid to see it.

Moultrie Game Watcher 2.1

I've wanted a trail camera for a while, but the cost allowed them to stay on the store shelves. But last year, a cheap, 35mm trail cam was available for about 50 bucks. I am too impatient to go through the film developing process for that though, so I didn't get one. there was a VGA digital cam for about $150, but I couldn't justify the funds just to take pictures of deer. And it was less than 1 mega pixel, so I can only imagine how lousy the pictures would be. So I was stuck looking at deer tracks alone.

Just as with every other bit of technology though, the trail cam got cheap! Moultrie feeders released the Game Watcher 2.1 digital game camera. Its a 2.1 mp camera, with a 30' flash, an internal memory and an SD card slot. The internal memory holds 120 low quality and 25 high quality pictures, but a 500Mb SD card hold 1000 high quality and 3000 low quality pictures. It also does video, but its real choppy, and it converts to still at night.

Me and my son got the camera, with a bag of deer corn, set up our deer ambush. Not knowing what to expect, we checked it the next day, and found it had 7 pictures on it. Man we were excited, I hooked my computer to it and we had genuine photos of 2 squirrels, 3 crows, an 8 year old boy, and a 4 year old girl in some kind of ballet spin. I guess if that's why you bought the stinkin' camera, you'd be pretty excited. But we were sure we would see the 12 point monster we know is back there, we've just never seen it cause we didn't have a camera. The next few days were about the same a whole lot of excitement just to find a few rodents and a Ballerina. But after a few days, Gavin told me that the memory was full, I was of course convinced that my kids decided to play in the woods all day, which by the way does not attract deer, but when I hooked it up, the first picture was an 8 pointer in full velvet, and the following 119 were various bucks and does. I even had some with 4 and 5 deer in one picture. And since then the memory has stayed full, and I have a couple of thousand pictures of deer, raccoons, foxes, and yes, squirrels and ballerinas.

The camera has been a success, and has paid for itself over and over again if you consider the cost of developing 35mm film. I paid about $70 for it as Wal-mart, at that price, there's no reason anyone who hunts couldn't have one. Moultrie has put together a good camera at a good price, and I have the Ballerina to prove it.

Due to the extreme pain in the butt caused by uploading photos, you'll have to look at my last post to see pictures of my future meals.

Bowhunting Starts Friday!

Friday, September 15, 2006 will mark the first day of bow hunting in Maryland this year. Not very momentous for many, but this day also marks the very first day of bow hunting for The Boy. We have our blinds dug out, our deer comin' in, and Gavin Shooting fleas off of dogs backs with his bow. So I hope to have his first deer kill pictured here Friday night. Gavin has dibs on the eight pointer. Wish us luck.

Mama's Hero

What do you do when an unknown dog comes into your yard, barks at you, and doesn't heed your warning to leave (ie. yelling, jumping and clapping)? Unfortunately the answer for most would be to retreat into your house and call animal control. Animal control would then arrive 45 minutes later to find, surprise, no dog, and tell you to call back if you see it again. Well what works for some, just ain't the way it's done here.
You see, I have a son, who is 8, 3 daughters, 4, 2 & 9 months, and a pregnant wife. I will not allow them to be harmed in any way. So I figured that when I saw the dog again, I would go through the ridiculous tribal dance of shooing it away, and when that didn't work, for the safety of my family, I would shoot it. What I didn't expect was for it to come back while I was at the store.
My son and 2 year old daughter were in the trampoline and the dog came back, my wife saw the dog and called for the kids. Gavin said to get his shotgun and shoot it, but she didn't know how to shoot his Stoeger 20 gauge. So my wife brought the gun to Gavin and walked Savannah back to the porch while Gavin trained the gun on the dog and walked backwards to the porch himself. He then proceeded to yell and make a bunch of noise to scare the dog away, but that did nothing and the dog started advancing on my son. Without a second thought, and the safety of his Mama and sisters in mind, he took aim and pulled the trigger, spraying bird shot square into the dogs face. The dog yelped, spun a few times, and ran off. The threat had been neutralized, and Gavin was a knight in shining armor to the girls in this house.
When I got home, He met me at my truck breathing heavy saying," Dad, I did what I had to do." To an adult, this may not seem too monumental, but my boy is 8, he was left with the responsibility to keep his family safe, and he was able to answer the call. Way to go Gavin, your the hero of the day!

What is a Man?

What is a man? Any male over the age of 18? Nope. Any male who can down 12 beers in 30 minutes? Nah. How about someone who sits around on Sunday watching football and scratching his rear while drinking 12 beers before the end of the first quarter? Sadly, not even close. And I dare not say one of the new variety, who carries palm pilots, and blackberries and wears pink shirts to the office all the while trying not to spill his double-soy-mocha-lo-fat-chi-latte-frappuccino with an extra shot of espresso. This guy would probably die of exposure on an 80 degree day if his A/C broke.
No, I'm talking about a real man, a survivor. A man who can live on the land just as well as he can with all our conveniences. One who if lost in the woods, had the good sense God gave him to kill and eat, to build shelter, to find his way out, or live long enough to be found. A man who hunts, (for more than just wall decorations) for his food, and can have the pride that comes with knowing that it was his gun and his wits that allowed his family to eat today. A man is someone who has better things to do with his time than sitting around watching T.V., like teaching his son how to be a man. A man works with his hands, and builds things, and fixes things. A man does not have to call the A/C man to change the air filter in his house. He does not have to pay someone to change the oil in his car, he probably doesn't even have a car, he's got a truck. (just kidding on the last one, But if it's made by Honda, Toyota, Nissan, or the like, or if it's battery powered, I kind of doubt it) A man is someone who can save his family money by knowing how to work on his vehicles, and his home. There's nothin worse than paying someone 5 times as much to do something you should know how to do.
A man is someone who is strong, who can protect those he loves, and anyone else who needs his protection. Someone with a strong heart, who stands up for whats right, and what he believes in in the face of opposition. A man has dignity, and wouldn't be caught dead sitting in a seat while there is a woman left standing, who would open the door for a woman because its the right thing to do.
A man is one who treats his wife with love and respect, while leading his family in the right direction.(Ephesians 5:25) Not one who degrades and disrespect his wife all the while being ruled like a little puppy-dog by her. One who when guys at work start whining about their rulers, (wives) has the dignity and respect for his wife to avoid the conversation or speak good about her, not participate in stupid childish complaining just to fit in.
A man is one who has time to devote to the training and raising up of his children, to teach his boys how to become men, and treats his girls like princesses. A boy's marriage will depend on whether or not he was taught how to be a man. And a girl will probably look for a man like her father, that's good if he's a real man, but if he's like one of those in the first paragraph, well...
What I'm sayin is, I'm seeing way too many males who don't understand that there's more to being a man than what you got hangin'. It's about who you are, and what you believe in. And the trend is sadly going down the wrong path, and it will only get worse. Somewhere along the line, Masculinity, and the pride that came with it gave in to feminism, sensitivity, and Starbucks, and I think its time to get it back. So, to all the real men reading this, it's up to you what your sons will become, be vigilant, the next generation depends on you, and to everyone else, don't spill your coffee.

Targel rifle at surplus prices

In a day of high dollar, super-match-target rifles that are said to put a bullet through the eye of a needle at 200 yards, one would think that only the rich, the powerful, or just the insanely lucky (gun writers) will be able to enjoy a truly fine rifle. Well, I've got some good news for you. Let me introduce you to the Olympic arms K-16. I bought this gun a couple of years ago at a gun show after years of wanting an AR-15, it cost me around $600 which is a lot for me, but nothing compared to what's out there. The real surprise was when I got it on the range. I put a Simmons 4-12x Scope from walmart on the picatinny rail, and put the first 5 Winchester 55gr fmj rounds into a nice little 3/4"- 1" hole. And it's done it ever since. I've now put probably 10,000 through it easy, and the only malfunction was a broken trigger pin after about 8,000 rounds. I have never had a jam, misfeed, or any other malfunction with this rifle.
I have since replaced the A2 stock with a collapsible job, installed a FIRSH handguard, and an Aimpoint red dot sight for QCB work, Or fun, however one looks at it. I was going to replace the trigger because that's just what people do, but the single stage trigger breaks very crisp at about 4 pounds, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I did however replace the grip with a Hogue rubber coated grip, It makes a huge difference in the way the rifle feels in your hand.
I have shot many $1,500+ rifles that didn't shoot as well as the K-16, thumbs up to Olympic arms for putting together such a good rifle, and keeping it close to where real people can afford it.

It sounds good to me

What happened to common sense? What happened to doing what works? What happened to fighting for what you believe in? As a thinking man, you have to be asking yourself this every time you watch the news, or listen to the radio, or have a political conversation with someone who's mind tilts a little left.
Example:
1,000,000 illegal aliens march in major U.S. cities to protest America's immigration laws. Do you understand what I'm sayin' here, they broke into our country illegally, which by all rights makes them criminals, and then have the audacity to come out in a public place to protest against the government who's laws they are breaking. But what baffles me the most is the fact that there weren't a few hundred U.S. Marshals with a company of Marines to scoop them up and send them back to Mexico. And now we get to listen to the elected boneheads in our senate and congress argue 2 sides of a problem knowing full well that neither side would work. So, its a good thing I'm here to give the answer most Americans wish our government would give.
First, the reason for coming to our great country must be taken away, so from now on, any business owner who is caught hiring an illegal alien will be arrested on the spot and deported to Mexico. No questions asked. He will no longer be a citizen of the U.S.A., and if he ever wants to come back, he will have to go through the legal immigration procedures. Second, Arrest and deport any and all illegals found living in the U.S., because they no longer have a reason to be here with the induction of step one. along with this, we must resend the law that says a child born in America to an illegal in a citizen, They have no respect for our laws, so they are training their kids not to respect our laws either. Step three, now that all of the illegals are gone or leaving, and there is no reason for any more to come, that only leaves people who want to hurt us coming across the border. My solution to this problem; Security through superior firepower, that's right, soldiers, guns, tanks, walls, and more guns. This way there's no feelings to get hurt, no more "hard working immigrants" to worry about, the only ones coming across are bad guys.
So with all the bantering we hear about immigration, remember, its all just political talk unless it sound like this. And no, I'm sorry, I won't be running for public office, Politics aren't ready for solutions yet.

To Protect and Serve

We are led to believe that the police are our "protectors", and we don't need guns in the hands of citizens to keep us safe. Tell that to the family of Detective Vicky O. Armel of the Fairfax county police department and Officer Michael E. Garbarino, Who were shot outside the Sully District police station on Monday May 8th. Now the fortunate thing was 2 officers were able to stop Micheal Kennedy before he was able to do more damage, on the other hand, 2 officers were killed.
The point I'm trying to make is this, what if this nut had his mind set on shooting up a shopping mall, or a grocery store, would the police have been able to stop him after only 2 casualties? No, by the time the police were called, then had to drive to the mall, and set up a perimeter, Get the SWAT team, and the negotiator... you get my point, the only way this could be stopped, is if citizens were armed and willing to stop him themselves. Had there not been armed police officers right there, the outcome of May 8th would have been even more disastrous.
We as citizens have to understand that the police are for the most part investigators, not protectors. They CANNOT keep us safe, they CANNOT prevent random crimes from occurring, and most importantly, they CANNOT keep a bad guy from hurting you or your loved ones, all they can do is apprehend the one who did it.

NRA Light Rifle Qualification

We're coming up on 4 years now that my son has been shooting with me and I've always struggled for a way to make shooting more competitive. He has always been involved in hunting, and pest control, so shooting has had a reason, but all to often we just go to the range to blast away. Nothin' wrong with that, but I've been looking for some direction to take his shooting for some time now. The problem is, he is too young to compete in sanctioned events, and where we live, there isn't much around anyway. What I found was the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program. Specificaly, the Light rifle qualification. You use any safe .22 rimfire rifle, no high dollar target rifles needed. Targets and distances are A-32 target, 50 feet, two shots per bullseye. And A-23/5 or A-31X experimental target, 50 yards, five shots per bullseye. The courses of fire are prone or benchrest, all standing, or 3-position -- prone, kneeling and standing. Body and/or gun support may be used at the Pro-Marksman rating level in all courses, and throughout the prone/benchrest course. And the best part for an almost 8 year old is, the awards, which include a Light Rifle Patch. Blue/burgundy certificates. Medals, medal bars and skill rockers used in all courses.
The Boy loves it, and has already qualified as Pro-Marksman in 3-position, and is on his way to expert in prone/benchrest. If you have the same delima I have, I highly reccomend this program, It gives a level of pride to a skill hard earned, and it can be a bit humbling to one whos head is a little large from the lack of competition.
I would love to hear about any other program that is out there for an 8 year old who can handle himself behind a trigger.

I'm Goin' To Mexico

Here's an E-Mail I got, I think you'll like it.

MR. PRESIDENT, I'M HEADED TO MEXICO
David M. Bresnahan
April 1, 2006
NewsWithViews.com
Dear President Bush: I'm about to plan a little trip with my family and extended family, and I would like to ask you to assist me. I'm going to walk across the border from the U.S. into Mexico, and I need to make a few arrangements. I know you can help with this. I plan to skip all the legal stuff like visas, passports, immigration quotas and laws. I'm sure they handle those things the same way you do here. So, would you mind telling your buddy, President Vicente Fox, that I'm on my way over? Please let him know that I will be expecting the following:
1. Free medical care for my entire family.
2. English-speaking government bureaucrats for all services I might need, whether I use them or not.
3. All government forms need to be printed in English.
4. I want my kids to be taught by English-speaking teachers.
5. Schools need to include classes on American culture and history.
6. I want my kids to see the American flag flying on the top of the flag pole at their school with the Mexican flag flying lower down.
7. Please plan to feed my kids at school for both breakfast and lunch.
8. I will need a local Mexican driver's license so I can get easy access to government services.
9 I do not plan to have any car insurance, and I won't make any effort to learn local traffic laws.
10. In case one of the Mexican police officers does not get the memo from Pres. Fox to leave me alone, please be sure that all police officers speak English.
11. I plan to fly the U.S. flag from my house top, put flag decals on my car, and have a gigantic celebration on July 4th. I do not want any complaints or negative comments from the locals.
12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.
13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy. I know this is an easy request because we already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely. However, if he gives you any trouble, just invite him to go quail hunting with your V.P. Thank you so much for your kind help.
Sincerely,
David M. Bresnahan

It's for the birds

The other day, Mama and the kids were visiting my dad at his store.(not a strong start, but stay with me) Not sure how it all came about but my wife called and told me that when they were there, the kids were given gifts from Pappaw. Now there's nothing unusual about the gifts they were given, if your part of my family. My girls were thrilled to death with their NEW BROOMS, and for "The Boy", 100 shotgun shells. You would think they all won the Powerball jackpot. (welcome to our world) So with clean floors, and Sunday approaching, it's to the range. Please understand that my love of shooting is one of single projectiles, not scattered bb's. So I was looking forward to teaching my son how to do something I had only done a few times, and years ago at that.
So we pull in to the trap and skeet range parking lot, The boy and I grab our guns and go. I brought my workhorse multi-purpose-deer-bird-snake-coon-possum-trashpikincanine-Mossberg 500. The Boy had his Stoeger 20 ga. There was a sporting clays shoot goin on when we arrived, so we sat and waited for the next round so we could embarrass ourselves together. We weren't waiting long when one of the range masters came over to us. "Yall gonna shoot?" "Yup" "He ever dun this before" "Nope, I'm gonna show em how if we can get a launcher" "Why don't yall come with me" So he took us to the side of the lake, and spent the next 2 hours teaching my 7 year old son how to shoot clay pigeons. Saved me the embarrassment of The Boy seein' I didn't know what I was doin. Anyway, the range masters name is Art, he showed my boy how to do everything from shouldering the gun for trap n skeet, to lead, and blowin em up, which was by far his favorite part.
Overall, he did really good. But all of his training in firearms have been with rifle and pistol, he had a hard time not using his sights. He was trying to put the bird in the rifle sights he had on the gun, which anyone who shoots trap & skeet knows that don't work. I had my Leatherman, and the rear sights disappeared quick. After he was looking at the right picture, he was makin dust.
Now me on the other hand, I was pathetic, if my life depended on me eating quail, my slim 250 pound frame would be no more. I hit...um, lets see, about 1 out of 10. Embarrassing to say the least. I thought since I could blow up clay birds by the hundreds out to 200 yards with a rifle,(that's only one bullet) 15 yards with 50 little pellets would be no sweat. I guess I don't have to tell you I was wrong. But we weren't there for me, it was for The Boy, and he loved it, so I reckon we'll be back, and I just might learn how to do it yet.
But the most amazing part of the day was the time given to my boy by Art, he gave up his day of shooting to teach a 7 year old boy he has never met. That's impressive in my book. And weather he realizes it or not, he made a friend for life in my son with his kindness and instruction. He helped me out quite a bit too. Thanks Art.

DEBATE

There are 11 million illegal immigrants in this country right now. That number is growing by 500,00 per year, What do we as a nation do about this? Let me know what you think and I'll do a follow-up post with my views in a few days. I know what the media thinks, I know what the politicians think, I want to know what you think. The only thing I ask is that you keep it clean.

This Clown wants to be Govenor?

Scary Evil Killing Machine(Used in less than 1% of violent crimes)>
Necessary Tool (42,000 people killed per year in the U.S. in car accidents)

Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan, a Democratic candidate for Maryland governor, testified in Annapolis last week in support of a state ban on military-style weapons. "I lived through what one of these weapons can do during the sniper shootings," Mr. Duncan said, referring to the shooting spree in October 2002 that killed 10 persons and terrorized the Washington area for three weeks. "We don't need these guns on the streets."

Well Mr Duncan, I see that you are really concerned for keeping us safe.
Doug Duncan is trying to save us all here in Maryland from horrible evils like assault weapons, but he is fighting tooth and nail to see that the lunatic who pulled the trigger in the 2002 sniper shootings does not get the death penalty. You figure it out. And callin ol' Johnny Mo a sniper is an insult to people like the late Carlos Hathcock. Hathcock was a sniper, John Mohamed is a nut who just figured out which end the lead came out of.

The Media Blows It Again

By Kristi Heim
Seattle Times business reporter;
One of the most popular guns for home protection turned out to be the gun of choice for Kyle Huff, suspected of Saturday's shooting rampage.
The 12-gauge shotgun does maximum damage to the body of its target. It's easy to purchase. No permit is required, and an instant background check over the phone can be as fast as credit-card approval for someone with no prior felony conviction...

Huff was no stranger to shotgun violence. He was booked on criminal-mischief charges in Montana in 2000 on suspicion of blasting an outdoor sculpture of a moose.

Why is the article focused on how easy the gun is to purchase when Kyle Huff (The bonehead in the report) was a criminal who purchased the Gun illegally? I'd love to see an article written on how easy it is for criminals to buy guns on the street, and how low the violent crime rate is for law abiding gun owners. Who are the only ones following the stupid rules on buying a gun anyway.

Evil guns in Illinois?

SPRINGFIELD - Just two days after winning the Democratic nomination for the 2006 general election, Gov. Rod Blagojevich called on the General Assembly Thursday to approve an assault weapons ban over the objections of the National Rifle Association. He pointed to the recent slayings of two Chicago girls, Starkesia Reed and Siretha White, who died from wounds inflicted by stray gunfire in the Englewood neighborhood."There’s no reason not to do it unless you are afraid of the NRA," the governor said. "I don’t think it’s a hard decision. In fact, it’s really an easy decision"...."How many more have to die?" Acevedo told a crowd of about 100 people from Chicago who were bused to Springfield to lobby for the legislation.

Here we go again with this ridiculous "assault weapon" stuff. Can I explain to you what an assault weapon is?A genuine assault weapon, as opposed to a legal definition, is a hand-held, selective fire weapon, which means it's capable of firing in either an automatic or a semiautomatic mode depending on the position of a selector switch. These kinds of weapons are heavily regulated by the National Firearms Act of 1934 and are further regulated in some states. What the left has done is classify it as a military LOOKING firearm, It doesn't actually do anything special, it just looks like its military counterpart. Assault weapons are not machine guns, only one bullet per pull of the trigger. An example of assault weapon legislation is the 1994 Clinton gun ban. The bill in part outlaws new civilian manufacture of certain semi-automatic assault weapons. It also prohibits new civilian manufacture of "large capacity ammunition feeding devices" declared certain weapons as assault weapons, and states a semi-automatic rifle is an assault weapon if it can accept a detachable magazine and has two or more of the following:
A folding or telescoping stock
A pistol grip
A bayonet mount
A flash suppressor, or threads to attach one
A grenade launcher

How many crimes are committed each year using a bayonet? And I know how bad those pesky grenade launchers are getting in our cities. The truth is, "assault weapons" are used in a small percentage of crimes, and the last time I checked, "crime" was already illegal. So punish the bad guys for robbing the bank, or killing or whatever the crime was, and you will see a reduction in crime. Ban more guns, and crime will go up.

Kansas gov. vetos crime reduction bill

TOPEKA — Gov. Kathleen Sebelius vetoed a bill Tuesday that would allow Kansans to carry concealed weapons, setting up a face-off with lawmakers already vowing to attempt to overrule her.
In a statement attached to her veto of the concealed-weapons bill, Sebelius said she could not “support allowing hidden weapons into businesses, restaurants, malls and any number of other public places.”

Now will someone please tell me why an elected official, who knows that concealed carry laws lower crime, would veto this bill. Do the liberals really want more crime? She must know that the "bad guys" already have "hidden weapons in businesses, restaurants, malls and any number of other public places.”

“I continue to hear from the police chiefs and other law enforcement officials, members of the clergy, health-care workers and employers throughout our state that concealed weapons on the streets make our citizens less safe and secure,” she said.

What about the statistics that say self defense saves lives, Governor? Everywhere CCW laws took effect, crime went down, regardless of what Deputy Dog, Father Mahoney, and Dr. Spock say. And the worse part is, she knows it, she just hopes you are to stupid to know it.

Its really not that hard

From the Washington Times today; (Click on title to read the whole article)

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales yesterday said Atlanta would become the 23rd U.S. city assigned a federal Violent Crime Impact Team in an aggressive effort to make that city safer. "The citizens of the city of Atlanta deserve to live free from violent crime," Mr. Gonzales said in announcing the law-enforcement initiative during a press conference at the U.S. attorney's office in Atlanta. "VCIT will help make Atlanta safer through a coordinated campaign to investigate and prosecute those individuals who threaten our communities with guns and violence."

Why is it so hard to figure out that violent crime cannot be defeated by law enforcement? Look back to the "gangster days" of the 20's, Did law enforcement end that ? No, the end of prohibition did. What brought back gangs and crime in the cities? Prohibition. This time it is drugs, not alcohol. I am not for drug use neither do I do any kind of drug, but how is it Uncle Sam's decision to stop someone from being a junkie? I know people won't agree with this because we are supposed to be in the war on drugs, but why can't we do what works for a change instead of what looks good on a press release? And if the citizens deserve to live free, why doesn't the government encourage the people to defend themselves, it works every time its tried. Look, if Joe Blow wants to get high, he's gonna get high, law or not, but if he wants to hurt me or mine, well that can be stopped.

D.C. gets a "B"

This is from the NRA's site ;

In last week’s Grassroots Alert, we reported on the annual ritual of the Brady Campaign issuing its “grades” to states based on the group’s opinion of state gun laws. To reinforce the silliness of the Brady Campaign’s grading system, one only needs to look at the group’s grade for Washington, D.C., released this week.
In breaking from past tradition to “grade” only states, the Brady Bunch gives the District a “B,” citing the city’s law on juveniles possessing guns, its egregious ban on keeping an assembled firearm in the home for self-defense, and its lack of a Right-to-Carry provision. Noticeably absent on the list of criteria for D.C. earning a “B” was the city’s handgun ban.

You gotta wonder how you get an "A"

Self Defense in Maryland? Nope

Its a Peaceful Thursday night, you are on your way home from a friends house when you realize your hunger, so you decide to stop for a bite. You realize that you don't have any cash on you so you make a quick stop at the ATM for $20. As you pull up to the bank, you can see there is no one else around, so you park your car and walk up to the ATM. Just as you normally do, you pull out your card and insert it into the machine, and as soon as you enter your PIN, there's a noise from the side of the building....
Your a young college girl leaving a late class one night. Talking to your friends after class, you realize the time and say your goodbyes. Walking to your car just as you do every night, anxious to get home to bed because of your early class in the morning, you hear footsteps behind you...
What could this mean? Could be someone to use the ATM, or another college student walking to their car...or it could be something else. Maybe someone who sees an easy few dollars, or a sick little pervert looking for a some fun. Options? Run? He may be faster. Stay and fight? He may be stronger. Spray him with pepper spray? Doesn't always work or have much effect on someone who might be high or is wearing glasses. How about my favorite. You reach into your concealed holster and pull out the compact 9mm you have stashed for just this occasion. What? You don't have one? Why the heck not? Oh, you live in Maryland or one of the only 13 states that do not allow concealed carry. Well, sorry bout your luck, you've just been mugged, raped, or killed. You see how ridiculous this is? I live in a state that does not allow its citizens to protect themselves outside of their home, Maryland. What could possibly be the reason for such a foolish act. The left wing . They for some reason believe that you can just call Andy Griffith or Barney Fife and they will "protect and serve" you. Well I live in the real world, not T.V. land. Here you don't have time to call the cops, you have time only to take action yourself. And self defense classes don't prepare you for a 250 pound man who's only thought is having his way with you. Unfortunately to many women have been robbed or rapped because they had no way to defend their selves. Is some goofy political view, or an ignorant unfounded fear of guns a good reason to become a victim of a crime? Or would you like to be able to save yourself? Here are some numbers that shouldn't surprise you, but probably will.
You are far more likely to survive a violent assault if you defend yourself with a gun. In episodes where a robbery victim was injured, the injury/defense rates were:

Resisting with a gun 6%
Did nothing 25%
Resisted with a knife 40%
Non-violent resistance 45%
When a woman was armed with a gun or knife, only 3% of rape attacks are completed, compared to 32% when unarmed

You see, You are being lied to about your safety and don't even realize it. But I know some will still think they are safer if only police have guns and we all just smile more. I have one question, If we just ban all guns and let only police carry them, we would be very safe right? Well just ask yourself, if all guns were illegal, then why would police still need them? If you said because the bad guys would too, ding, ding, ding, your right! We have to arm ourselves with the knowledge to fight back against those who would hurt people just because they can. We need to arm ourselves physically with the proper tools to defend against a physical attack. But unfortunately in my home state of Maryland, I would be the criminal if I did. Hopefully one day that will change, or I'll move to a more reasonable state.
I know some will read this and think I'm crazy, and that's fine-n-dandy, but tell what you would do, and not hypotheticals, pretend its your wife, mother, daughter, girlfriend, or any of your loved ones, how would you have them protect themselves?

Goys and Birls

At what point in our society did it no longer matter that boys and girls are different? There used to be a large distinction between what was "masculine" and what was "feminine". Now, it seems there is little or no difference at all. The phrase, "Girls can do anything boys can do" has taken a firm hold on our society, and it is pretty sad. When I read books about a time long ago, I see little boys playing cowboys and Indians(now we're not even allowed to say Indian), and girls playing with baby dolls, and having tea parties. But now, boys have dolls, and girls have football. We have played a perverted game of role reversal with our children, and traditional values are being trampled on in the process. Boys are taught emotion, compassion, and feelings, while girls are taught to be tough and to show the boys that she can keep up or beat them. Whatever happened to females being the "weaker vessel"(1Pe 3:7 You husbands, in like manner, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman, as to the weaker vessel, as being also joint heirs of the grace of life; that your prayers may not be hindered. ) It does not stop at childhood though, this attitude now is brought to the workplace and into the marriage. It was an honor to a man to be able to defend a woman, now we hear about women defending men. It was an honor for a man to provide for his family, now we see stay at home dads being provided for by their wives. There is no place for a man to be a man. A man no longer has the pride of knowing that he has provided for his family and without him, they wouldn't make it, nor does he have the pride of knowing that his protection is needed . She can do it just as good as him. And whats worse than that, is now Dads send their little girls to fight in wars for us. And it must be OK, because Disney made a movie about just that, "Mulan". Dad was to old and sick, and it was up to his daughter to save the day, they couldn't have done it without her, right. Wrong. I don't care how old or sick I am, the burden of battle will not be one any of my little girls will ever have to carry, and I don't see how any man with an ounce of dignity could see it any other way.
Now I'm sure most people reading this have already dismissed me as a chauvinistic, sexist pig. But this has nothing to do with male supremacy, or superiority, it has to do with cherishing, and honoring the women that God has blessed us with. My wife gets coddled, and doted on daily, I want her to feel she is the queen of my life, living in the castle I have provided for her(1,400 sq. ft ain't quite Camelot, but we manage). She relies on my support and income so she can raise our children at home. She depends on my strength to protect her from all kinds of evil. A knight in shining armor used to be every girls fantasy, but the modern woman doesn't need one anymore. A man relies on the emotion, compassion, and comfort that a woman provides, but now that women do it all, what does a man have to offer a woman. Nothing, and we wonder why marriages fall apart by the thousands. I'm not resting total blame of divorce on women, I'm just making the point that if both parties involved in a marriage do not have something to offer each other, then the relationship is destined to fail.
But as for me, I have one wild Indian, or Knight, or cowboy, or whatever wild thing he decides he is at the moment, and three princesses, or little mommies, or ballerinas, or whatever precious thing they are imitating. You see, my girls know that their big brother will protect them, because we haven't ingrained in their heads that they need to be stronger than him. And my boy will protect them from that terrible dragon and monster problem we have in our backyard. And what they see between me and my wife is not a competition, but a fully functional unit that has strengths and weaknesses that complement each other. Where I lack in emotion, or compassion, and tenderness my wife can even the balance. And where she lacks in logic, and physical strength. I fill in the gap. We are able to complete one another, not compete with one another. We each have a role, and we're proud to do it.
So, for the sake of the next generation, treat your girls like the princesses they are, and keep the pink shirts away from your boys, their marriage could depend on it.(And you just might get rid of that pesky dragon in your backyard)

"The Arabs Bought What!?"

I am a patriotic American, I love my country, I love my family, and I want to keep them safe as much as the next guy. So when I hear that Mohamed Jihad from East What's-it-stan is going to have control of our ports, I don't get all warm-n-fuzzy inside. I mean who can sleep at night knowing that the "God blast the U.S.A." crowd is in charge of what comes into our country. You may be able to deal with America being turned into a crater, but I have better, less explosive plans for my life. So with all that said, why am I not furious about the Dubia port deal? Because the media has ( you'd better sit down for this) lied and mislead you again. You surprised? I didn't think so. Here is how it is being portrayed;
--There is growing concern in the US over a multi-billion dollar deal giving control of ports to an Arab company(BBC)
-- He proposed selling the shipping operations at six major U.S. seaports to an Arab-owned company. The President is defending the deal.
But Republicans and Democrats alike are questioning the logic of out-sourcing the management of the sea ports.
Two million tons of cargo passes through U.S. Ports each year.
Security officials are worried that terrorists could use the ports to smuggle in weapons of mass destruction. (msnbc)
--"This whole notion that Dubai is going to control or set standards for U.S. ports is a canard.(cnn)
With the news reports like this, that we get from the mainstream media, I can't see how anyone would allow such a deal. But Thankfully, with alternative forms of media, and good common sense, we now have the ability to see through the smoke. The truth is this,
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is always in charge of the nations port security, not the private company that operates facilities within the ports. Nothing will change with this transaction. DHS, along with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and other Federal agencies, sets the standards for port security and ensures that all port facility owners and operators comply with these standards. The transaction is not about port security or even port ownership, but only about operations in port. DP World will not manage port security, nor will it own any ports. DP World would take on the functions now performed by the British firm P&O basically the off- and on-loading of cargo. Employees will still have to be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. No private company currently manages any U.S. port. Rather, private companies such as P&O and DP World simply manage and operate individual terminals within ports. So then why are we being led to believe things like, an Arab company is buying our ports, and port security in controlled by the Arabs, and my favorite, now terrorists could use the ports to smuggle in WMD's (why bother, Bill Clinton already made it to easy to bring them across the U.S.- Mexico border). Because it's another chance to jump on the "I hate Bush bandwagon". Just sit back and think for a minute, and let the logic and common sense warm up, and ask yourself, why would a man who has spent the last 6 years fighting terrorism, and put his presidency on the line more than a few times for the safety and security of this country, allow a deal that would put the very thing he vowed to defend, in jeopardy. You have heard the lies, and the rhetoric, but before you crucify Bush, consider the facts, and keep in mind, the media has as much of an agenda as any political party, and stories like this show their true colors. But when has the media ever let the truth get in the way of a good story?

Shooting with Mama

Four unknown rottweilers in the yard + 3 children in the same yard = A day at the range for Mama. That's right, after 7 years I got my wonderful wife to the range with me. She has been "talking" about it for quite a while but we haven't had the chance to until 4 big dogs decided to use our yard as their new playground. Funny how the safety of your children can shake off any fear of firearms. It was actually our valentines date (do I have a great wife or what) so it had been planned for a while, the dogs just made her see the urgency of it. Well we arrived at Sanners Lake Sportsman's Club around 2:30 and set up at the IDPA range. I had recently acquired 2 new small caliber pistols, a Beretta model 34 in .380, and a Taurus PT-22 in.22LR. I started the day by reviewing all the parts of each gun she would be shooting, and how to operate it safely (so I don't get shot in the butt) And I told her what to expect when she pulled the trigger. Now that may seem silly, but if you've ever seen a gun fly 15 feet in the air because the person shooting it didn't realize that it was gonna go BANG, you would understand. Then I had her rack the slide a couple times, and now its time to shoot. Now I didn't tell her at the time, but her first few shots told me that she is a much better shot than me. I say this because after the first few shots, which were surprisingly on target, I realized that her eyes were closed. All jokes aside, she did great. She chose to shoot our sons Smith & Wesson .22 first and did well, keeping her shots inside a 3" circle. But I don't think that was fast enough for her. So I let her take the Beretta .380 for a test drive. That’s better! BOOMBOOMBOOM, now were havin fun. she did real good with this one too. At this point I had put out some clay pidgins, holes in paper is only fun for a while. When the clay started burstin, she was hooked. Then I put up a "bad guy" target. That’s a full size cartoon bad guy pointing a gun at you. I don't think she was too keen on shooting people targets but, I asked, "why are you learning how to shoot?" You should know you can hit the type of target you might have to hit one day, even if the techniques don't give you warm and fuzzy feelings. And she did fine. besides, I already knew if we were ever attacked by clay pigeons, I wanted her shooting by my side. After a while with the .380, she was feeling bold. I had been shooting my 1911 .45ACP for a bit when she asked, "can I shot the big one?" "Are you sure?" I said, "It really goes bang." "Yup, I want to try it." "OK" She took hold of the .45 after a brief overview of the gun and went to the line. KABOOM, eyes closed, slight grin, KABOOM, eyes closed, beginnings of a smile, KABOOM, one eye open, ear to ear smile, that’s my girl. After a few more shots with the.45 her wrists were a bit sore but she did great, and now she can shoot the gun I leave loaded an accessible. Well all in all it was a wonderful day at the range with Jess(my wife) and what started out as a wonderful woman doing something for her husband, ended up being lots of fun for us both.
Now I know most Mamas don’t like Big Daddies guns, but that doesn’t amount to very much when yours or your children’s life is in jeopardy. If your husband owns guns, for his piece of mind and for the safety of your family, you should know how to use them. I can now feel confident that when the dogs (canine or two legged) threaten my family when I’m not there, the phone won’t be the first thing she reaches for. And besides, not liking guns is a lousy excuse for not learning how to use them, how many women really “like” to use the vacuum cleaner?

Wouldn't it be nice

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH? My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of Iraq regime has been completed. Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete. This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now to begin the reckoning.br Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the countries listed there. The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France. In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth. Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or maybe China. I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis. I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York . A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not ticking us off for a change. Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put em? Yep, border security. So start doing something with your oil. Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTAtreaty - starting now. We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there. They care. It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn tootin." Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America. To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you and we won't forget. To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic. God bless America. Thank you and good night. If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

Sunk To A New Low

It's pretty bad when you have to legalize voting for criminals to win an election. But the libs in Maryland know no bounds. Just so you dont think I'm making this up, here is a exerpt from todays Washington Times. ANNAPOLIS -- Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. yesterday vowed to veto a bill that would restore voting rights to felons, including the state's most violent criminals, immediately upon their release from prison....Dozens of House Democrats have co-sponsored legislation that would allow about 150,000 murderers, rapists, robbers and other felons to vote this year, and the state Democratic Party has endorsed the bill. The Govenor says he will veto the bill if it gets to his desk, but the fact that it would is just sad. The reason the democrats want the convicts to have voting rights is because they are more likely to vote democrat. If your a democrat, I wonder how it feels to have the same political beliefs as the scum of the Earth. Kinda sad huh.

Which is Bigger News?

Cheney Shoots Man In Hunting Accident
or
Gore decries treatment of Arabs post 9-11

Now I am confident that anyone reading this has heard about the Vice President's hunting accident, anything that happens to anyone in a presidential administration will be news. however after three days, it's still front page news. But I am willing to bet that you probably have not heard about the statements made by former vice president Al Gore. He told a mainly Saudi audience on Sunday that the U.S. government committed "terrible abuses" against Arabs after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and that most Americans did not support such treatment. Gore said Arabs had been "indiscriminately rounded up" and held in "unforgivable" conditions. The former vice president said the Bush administration was routinely blocking Saudi visa applications. "Unfortunately there have been terrible abuses and it's wrong," Gore said. "I do want you to know that it does not represent the desires or wishes or feelings of the majority of the citizens of my country." HIS country, when it was his country, him and his boss repeatedly refused to fight the terrorism that was plain as day to any thinking person in the country. Now the 1st amendment protects his right to blabber on about whatever he wants, but common sense says you don't lie about things like that in the wake of the worldwide Muslim riots over a silly cartoon. Saying that he is an Idiot is a little easier to handle, you know, just a poor choice of words. But I don't think that is it at all. I believe it was calculated. Which begs the question, who's side is he on? Unfortunately he's not on the side of America. It is clear that this is just another attack on George Bush. Which on the face is fine, there have been political games for all of time, but now it has taken a different turn. The Lefts hatred of Pres. Bush has aligned them with our enemy. The positions the democratic party have taken recently are proof of it. Look at the NSA program that was leaked and now is being opposed. WE HAVE NOT BEEN ATTACKED IN OVER 4 YEARS BECAUSE OF PROGRAMS LIKE THIS!!! But now its worthless because someone who doesn't like the President leaked it. Now my 4 children, my wife, and myself are less safe. And look at the position the libs take on our P.O.W.'s, they would see them all set free. Well golly-gee, I wonder what fanatical terrorists would do if they were let back on the street. But our being "nice" now takes precedence over keeping us safe. And to top it all off, those that want to make our country more dangerous are the same ones that try to take away my ability to defend my family.(Sorry, gun control is for another article).

So, you make the call, which is a bigger story, the VP's hunting accident, or the former VP putting my family in danger?

Oh yeah, Al was lying and you can bet he won't be called on it.

"To Love And Cherish" Part 2

Who is in control? Who makes the rules? Who's the boss? What should be asked is, what does God want for my family? What is the biblical role of the husband? How do I become the spiritual leader of my home?
Eph 5:22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
Eph 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Eph 5:24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Wives submit does not mean your the "master", it means that God has designed marriage to work a specific way. Verse 25 does not say for husbands to be "in charge" of their wives, It says to love them. To love them as Christ loved, you will be leading your family, not lording over your family. Men all to often see this as a license to be the boss, and if that's your attitude, your not fit to lead an ox cart. God in no way intended men to be "Masters" and women to be "Servants". He intended for men to follow Christs example, and to lead through love and service. How many husbands out there have washed their wife's feet? Probably not many, but Christ washed his disciples feet, if we are to be Christ for our wife, then we must lead through constant service. You are to be the head of your house, but do you have to tell your wife that? If you do your not leading, you are trying to assume a role that doesn't belong to you. How effective would a boss on the job be if every time he told you to do something he had to say, "I'm the boss and you have to listen to me." No, a good leader will lead and everyone will know it. And as for verse 22, men don't need worry about that. You will have enough to do following what God expects from you. These verses are not dependant on one another, (Eph.5:22&5:25) they are individual commands. A man has no right to say, " if she was more submissive, then I would be a better leader," just the same, a woman has no right to say,"if he was a better husband, I would be more submissive." If a wife doesn't submit to her husband, she is not disobeying him, she's disobeying God. A man who doesn't love and lead his family is letting God down, not his wife. We have a job to do as husband and it doesnt matter what our present situation is, you are to love your wife as Christ did, and be a man, be a leader. Most women are waiting for a man to take charge but when you fail to, they feel obligated to pick up the slack. Then before you know it, you are in no more a position of authority on your home than one of your kids. That's not fair to your wife, she was created to be your "help meet"(Genesis 2:20-24) , you should allow her to be that, and not feel she needs to be your mother. You need to lead, and if she doesn't follow, continue to lead until you have earned her trust and respect, and when she falls behind, go back and pick her up and lead on. I'll bet there are plenty of women out there who would tell their husbands to "lead, follow, or get out of the way". Which one are you going to do?

"To Love And Cherish"

"Husbands love your wives as Christ Loved the Church" Ephesians 5:25
At first glance this is just another verse in the bible, most husbands would tell you that they do love their wife, of course I did. Until about 3 years ago. I read this verse with another set of eyes I guess because it took on a whole new meaning to me. To love is easy, to love as Christ loves, well that's something different entirely. Before I saw this for what it really meant, I saw the wife's responsibility much more demanding. I mean all I have to do is love her, but she has to be in submission to me. Kinda cool huh? Love is shown to us in I Corinthians 13:4-8;
1Co 13:4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud,
1Co 13:5 doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil;
1Co 13:6 doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
1Co 13:7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1Co 13:8 Love never fails.
If we as men use this as the outline for the way we should be to our wives, we will be showing a Christlike love. The kicker is that Christ is perfect, we are not. that means a real man will spend the rest of his life striving to obtain this goal. Our lives should be devoted to pleasing our wives and finding favor in their eyes. As husbands we are to be companions, their best friend, a provider, and a protector. Christ is all those to us, therefore, we are to be that for our wife. All to often a man falls into selfishness. His family comes after his toys, or his work. And yes, if work disrupts your marriage it is because you want it to. Or you want the "things" that it provides.
A man that allows work to rule his life, doesn't deserve his wife. Unfortunately, I see it all to often, men who would work late day after day cause the boss asked him to, your wife asked to be loved and cherished, how is it that we worry more about making the boss mad than upsetting our wife. Now I know you need work, but don't allow it to ruin your marrage.
When a man truly loves a woman, he addresses her needs, considers her desires, and is equally zealous for her to find fulfillment. Your sole desire in life is her joy.You will sacrifice yourself and your wants for her, not so she won't wine, or because she nags you, but because you are striving to be "Christ" to her. You will sacrifice even your own life, just as Christ did. But if you live in 2006 where all family members are out for themselves, you wont ever know the true joy of marrage.
I know this is kinda mushy compared to everything else I've written, but it is a blessing beyond compare to devote yourself fully to another. And a real man will be "christ" for his wife.
I plan to write about the mans role as husband and father later, but I feel this needed to be addressed first. Because the head of a household doesn't lead his family with an iron fist, he leads with love.

2 New Toys

Funny how Dads are, they kinda sneak in a gift here and there because giving them might result in mushy feelings, and we wouldn't want that. Well my Father is no exception. A couple of weeks ago, me and my clan were visiting my parents, and as we were leaving, my dad asked me to look at a couple of old guns he had picked up, you know to see if they work and fix any problems they might have. So of course I say yes, and take them. I love a challenge and fixing guns is something I enjoy quite abit. But, right as we walked out the door he whispers in The Boys ear "if you get it working, keep it". Well that just made Gavin's day. He was referring to a Taurus model PT-22. It is a pretty little .22 cal pocket pistol and the Boy loved it. Then if that wasn't enough, as I shook his hand to say goodbye, he says's to me,"If you can get the other one working, you can have it too". Well I'll be, I had just received a vintage 1942 beretta model 34. This pistol was made for the Italian Army during WWII. It was the standard sidearm for Italian infantrymen. Being made in 1942, it stands to reason that it could have been used, or at least carried in the war.
Today, we were able to test our two newest additions at the range. Both pistols performed flawlessly. Starting with the Taurus, it hold 7 round of .22lr (there's room for 9 but the first two rounds wont feed if you try it.) It took some getting used to, see I am used to large frame pistols and unless you are shooting a derringer, they don't get much smaller than the PT-22. It is a DOA (double action only) pistol with close to a 12 pound trigger. It also has about an inch of creep so put those together and your going to have a tired finger at the end of 100 rounds or so. As for accuracy, I was impressed for such a small gun. It has a 2" barrel that tips up for cleaning. I was able to keep 5 shot group down to about 4" at 20 yards, and not being a target pistol with only a 2" barrel, that's not too bad. But the real test was the Boy. he was at about 6" at 15 yards which is good because he had a little trouble with the trigger pull. He will be doing finger curls until the problem is fixed. but he thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you Papaw Larry. Another thing that is different is it has no way to lock the slide open, which being DOA it is OK, you know tour empty when it goes tick instead of bang.
The M-34 was also a joy to shoot. It is chambered for .380 ACP, which is just a small 9mm. In 100 round fired, I didn't have any misfires or failure to feed problems. One thing to note about the gun is the safety, It is also the slide stop and has to be spun 180 degrees to disengage. Not a bad thing, It just takes some getting used to. accuracy was about the same as the PT-22, but keeping in mind this guns intended purpose, It does what it was made to do. And for the Gavin test, he loved this one too. he wasn't able to rack the slide on his own but I guess that is what I'm there for.
All in all, we had another enjoyable day at the range, and got to test out 2 new guns, what more can one ask for on a Sunday afternoon.

Soldiers Angels

Because Americans do appreciate what the troops are doing on our behalf, support organizations have sprung up like mushrooms after a spring rain. Some are mom and pop operations, some are big, some are quasi-official, some have limited scope and some do it all. In the later category is Soldiers Angels, which was started by a GI's mom and has grown to be a full spectrum effort. Go to www.sodiersangels.org tand get information on how to do everything from donate your car you are no longer using, donate your airline miles so a GI can come home on leave, donate money, boots, comfort items, sand scarves; submit a wounded hero to receive care packages , donate items for GI's that are helping Iraqi kids or get involved in tangible and effective support for our troops. those yellow ribbons are and bumper stickers are fine, but the troops can't see them. Soldiers Angels concentrate on things deployed troops and returning wounded need. Like Project Valor-IT (voice activated laptops for our injured troops), a really good endeavor that is outfitting voice activated laptop computers for troops who have sustained arm or hand injury or loss. In phase-I, these units are being distributed to major military medical centers for training the troops, and in subsequent phases the will be supplies for the troops to take with them. Soldiers Angels has been reorganized as a non-profit organization so your donations are tax deductible. Check'em out and grab your checkbook, the holidays are over, but the war is not. Keep support for our troops coming, this is a very good pipeline.

A Day at the Range

Sunday, 1300hrs , Arrive home from church, refuel children, lay down girls, kiss wife, and then my weekly dilemma begins. Me and "The Boy" have the rest of the afternoon to wage all out war on the evil forces of paper, clay pigeons, and bowling pins. Its range time! But, I go through the same ritual each week, which guns do I take? I can't take them all, because If I got pulled over I would have a tough time convincing the police officer that I wasn't on my way to arm the local militia. So, I try to think about what I am going to work on that day and pack accordingly. The Boy is easy, his .22 cal Crickett is always a favorite, he also packs his grandfathers Smith & Wesson model 63, and now that he has the Stoeger 20 ga, it's usually with us to. I try to only take what I'm going to shoot, but that isn't so easy when I'm staring at a safe full of guns. Here lately It has been a little easier, me and The Boy have been working a lot on our pistol skills.(Which after months of preparing for hunting season has been much needed.) We have both taken quite a liking to IDPA, for those of you who don't know what it is, it stand for International Defensive Pistol association.(www.idpa.com) IDPA as a sport is the use of practical equipment to solve simulated real world self-defense scenarios. Grown up GI Joe training is another way to look at it. Standing on the firing line and putting holes in paper is great but, it can get a little mundane week after week. It adds a significant challenge to shooting, and its a lot of fun. The Boy fell in love with it right away and he does pretty good too. You would be amazed at how difficult it is to hit a 2'x3' piece of paper at 10 yards while you are walking, running or crouching. And if you think that's hard, try a 4" clay pigeon. As for weapons, my trusty Firestorm 1911 .45 auto has seen thousands of rounds on the IDPA range alone. I also run the course with my Olympic Arms AR-15. It makes a quite handy QCB(close Quarters battle) weapon. Well when we are not running around like schoolboys, we are probably at the 100yard rifle range. Another problem with the Socialist Republic of Maryland, not many long 200+yard ranges. If we want a farther target, we just have to get a smaller target. Well anyway, here is where I run into most of my problem. The majority of my guns are long guns. I have taken to a savage model 111 in .270 win. Its a flat shooting and accurate rifle that with the right ammo will print 3/4" to 1" groups all day long. I also favor a really cheap Russian surplus rifle from WWII called the M-44 carbine. Its a basic bolt action mosin nagant in 7.62x54. As for accuracy, at 100 yards it could perform its intended task, but not much more. It is fun to shoot, and is good for about 7 out of 10 clay pigeons @ 100yards. These are the guns that get the most lovin', but they all eventually get their barrels warmed.
When I think of the benefits of that range time that me and The Boy have, His love of guns, shooting, and being outdoors are among the biggest, but for a homeschooled child, it gives him a chance to interact with other that share his love of shooting. The ability of most 7 year old boys to hold an intelligent conversation with another child is rare, much less an adult. But all they need is a chance. Give them something that they love, and let them learn all there is to know about it and you would be amazed at what your child could do. Gavin hold conversations with grown men about everything from guns to homeschooling and people just get a kick out of it. Give your kids a love, whether it be shooting, building, sewing, or cooking it doesn't matter, if you love and feed it, there is no limit to how far they can take it. But if you give them nothing, that's what they'll be.

Feel Good Economics

Capitalism-
An economic system based on a free market, open competition, profit motive and private ownership of the means of production. Capitalism encourages private investment and business, compared to a government-controlled economy. Investors in these private companies (i.e. shareholders) also own the firms and are known as capitalists.
In such a system, individuals and firms have the right to own and use wealth to earn income and to sell and purchase labor for wages with little or no government control. The function of regulating the economy is then achieved mainly through the operation of market forces where prices and profit dictate where and how resources are used and allocated. The U.S. is a capitalistic system.
It absolutely amazes me the lack of understanding that seemingly sensible people have of what makes our country so succesful. I am a Union steamfitter by trade, which is a wonderful occupation, but as a conservative I tend to be all alone in a political debate. Whether we are discussing the war, the president, or the "Evil Greedy Oil Companies", my union colleagues and I just don't click. But, I love to debate, and being right just feels good. With gas passing the $3.00 per gallon mark late last year, you better believe we had a lot to talk about. But what disturbed me wasn't that we didn't agree, but the total lack of understanding of a capitalist economic system. Words like greedy, and cold hearted, and my personal favorite, Bush's buddies kept coming up. Now the first and I might say, most important thing one has to understand is, economics and feelings DO NOT go together!!! But, unfortunately they all to often combined. For example, Exxon made $36 billion in profits last year(gasp), so what does the left side of our elected officials say, "those greedy oil companies" and try to hit them with a windfall profit tax.
Now that wasn't proposed because it would fix the problem, it was supposed to make us "feel" better. That the evil oil tycoons were getting what they deserved. In the real world, the result would be even higher gas prices because 10% would remain constant. Another example of "feel Good economics" is the recent passing of the "Walmart Health care Bill" in Maryland. The measure would require companies with more than 10,000 employees to spend at least 8 percent of their payroll on health benefits, or pay the balance into a state low-income health insurance fund. Again, when the government messes with how a company spends its money, the only thing it does is make us "feel" better. You can expect to see an increase in Walmarts prices as a direct result of this. And the worst part is, it wont give all their employees health care, wasn't that the reason? No, it was to make us "feel" better.
There is a terrible thing happening today and that is young people are not being taught economics the right way. Somehow the word capitalism has become taboo in today's society. We are to worried about "feeling good". Unfortunately the right way doesnt always feel good, but it is what has made the country what it is. We are successful because we make our business decisions, not the government.

Shooting with "The Boy"

As I helped break the barrel open on a brand new Stoger single shot 20ga. youth model shotgun, I couldn't help but think that this would be the last time I have my *shooting buddy* at the range with me. Mainly because my shooting buddy was my 55 pound, 7 year old son, Gavin. Now the words "youth gun" and 20ga. are synonomis with children, but recoil knows no size and does not discriminate. Now let me clear something up before you judge me to bad for giving my 7 year old a 20ga. shotgun. At this point he has been shooting longer than most soldiers serving 4 year terms in the military. I bought him a bb gun when he turned 4, and after a year of teaching the basics such as sight alignment, muzzle control, and all the gun safety I could cram into his head(when he could hit the target, and he wasn't going to shoot me in the rear)he graduated to a Davey Crikett .22cal single shot bolt action rifle. Now he nearly perfected the use of this rifle through constant training, and about 10,000 rounds of ammunition, Half a dozen squirrels, a racoon, and some crows. At about $8.00 a 550 round box, training a youngster the how to enjoy the fine art of shooting is pretty cheap. SIDENOTE: If you want to keep it cheap, dont put a collapsable stock on your AR-15. Thus began his love for the "Evil Black Rifle". MY ar may now be HIS favorite gun. Thus began my venture into reloading, but that is for another article. Training my son how to shoot has been one of the most rewarding challenges I have ever faced. When you take a young child who dosn't know which end of the gun the bullet comes out of, and watch as he transformes into a jr marksman well beyond his years, well lets just say there's a certain level of pride. The feeling I get when we are at the range, and hear, "thats the kid I was telling you about", is incredible. Now anyone who spends any amount of time at a range knows that ten guys shooting all at once sorta sounds like the invasion of Normandy, but imagine it all going silent exept for one little "crack....crack....crack". Of course I think somethings wrong so look up from my scope to see ten grown men standing behind "The Boy" As he's popping off clay pigion after clay pigion at about 120 yards with a cheap little 22 with iron sights. I just stared on with pride.(now if "The Boy" reads this, his head will probably get a little bigger, but I can deal with that when he's old enough to compete in matches.) Theres nothing better to take some swelling out of an ego than to see that there are others that can do what you can do. But untill then, I'll just have to deal with it. So, the next step was deer hunting. Here in the socialist Republic of Maryland, one cannot use a rifle for hunting, we are limited to a shotgun during our firearms season. And thats where the Stoger comes in. We bought it from a local gun dealer and went straight to the range. Now trying to explain the concept of pain by recoil was falling on deaf ears, so with the click of the hammer and a prayer, He was taking his first shot. Now two thing happened when he applied 7.5 pounds of pressure to his right index finger, 1, I thanked God that I had the forsight to place my hand on his back, and 2, we had to replace the target of the man shooting next to us. He looked up at me and said "wow, it didn't hurt". I didn't call him a liar, but I could read his eyes. The pain had no place in his desire to master his next challenge. About 10 or so shots later, he was keeping all shots in the vitals at 50 yards and I was able to remove my hand from his back. 10 more and I saved him the embarassment of giving in to the pain. He has now improved his groups to about 1 M.O.B.(minute of bowling pin) at 50 yards. The more he grows in knowledge and ability, the more amazed I get.
What is the reason for all this talk of my son? Other than a free opportunity to brag, its a small example of what millions of dads in america are missing. We (Dads) have an opportunity to be filled with joy while doing something we love. As a father, I have a 7 year old boy who idolizes me, now if you dont know what that feels like, it is incredible. By taking a simple pleasure of my life, and sharing it with my son, I have created a bond between two souls that will never be broken. If you enjoy shooting like I do, and you have children old enough(use your discrecion), and are shooting alone, and "buddies" don't count, then you are missing one of lifes great blessings. Some will say "my child is not mature enough yet", well maturity starts with you. There is nothing specialy programed by God into "The Boy", he has been trained to 1, obey(without obedience, a firearm doesn't belong in their hands).2, Respect, (without respect, your asking for a disaster). These things can be obtained by anyone who wants them. But you have to sacrifice yourself, put your childs needs before your own, consistantly train them in life, not shooting, but life. The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 22:6 that if we train up a child in the way he should go, then when he is old he will not turn from it.
Deu 11:18 Therefore shall you lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul; and you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be for symbols between your eyes.
Deu 11:19 You shall teach them your children, talking of them, when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Deu 11:20 You shall write them on the door-posts of your house, and on your gates;

This means that you,DAD have anongoing responsibility to teach and train your children, not only when convenient, because most of the time it won't be. But, the blessing is worth the challenge. You just have to decide, are you up to the challenge, your "Boy" is.

(*Shooting buddy; not to be confused with "Fishing buddy", Which has unfortunatly been redefined by Brokeback mountain.)

God, Guns, and Politics

Religion and politics, are two topics most people don't want to discuss, add guns to the list and they just get the heebee-jeebees.
So if you are sensative to any of the above, then I am just not your cup of tea. But if you are continually accused of political incorrectness, love to spend a day at the range, and belve God is more than a Sunday morning social club, then I think we will get along just fine.
My name is Ronnie Taylor, I'm the father of 4, and the husband of 1, My three favorite things are God, My family, and guns(in that order).I will spend most of my time on this site writing about my opinion of what the world gives us, and how the liberal media spins it. I will also review many firearms that I personaly own and others that I have had the privlege to shoot. I would also like to open myself up to anyone with firearms related questions. The more I get, the more I will have to write about. I am also going to have a few links that you can goto. One will be the www.NRA.org, if you own a gun and you want to keep it, you should join. The other is www.NoGraterJoy.org, because if you have kids, you should know how to raise them. I look foward to writing more, and reading your feedback. God Bless
